The Spring-Ford Area Senior High School Symphonic Wind Ensemble, under the direction of
John E. Eckstine, Jr., is a 65-member ensemble that has consistently received superior
ratings at various local, state, and national concert band festivals & adjudications over the
past 8 years. The ensemble has been chosen to perform at the annual Pennsylvania Music
Educators Association (PMEA) Spring Conference & the Pennsylvania Association of School
Business Officials Convention (PASBO), to be held in Valley Forge, PA in April, 2009.
Various music educators, such as well-known national/international author, conductor, and
arranger Mr. Edward Lisk, Drum Major and Director of the United States Air Force
Ceremonial Brass Chief Master Sergeant Edward Teleky, arranger, composer and West
Chester University Director of Bands Dr. Andrew Yozviak, & national known percussion
specialist and composer Mr. Daniel DeLong, have served as guest conductors and clinicians
with the group over the past 4 years.
Members of the wind ensemble are also marching members of the 2006-2007-2008
Tournament of Bands (TOB) Chapter III & Atlantic Coast Group IV Champions, and the 2008
Cavalcade of Bands Association (CBA) Yankee Open Class Champions.
